Today was not a good day regarding weather and taking pictures.... We had some of the outerbands from hurricane Dolly go through our area. Lots of rain and wind, I was soaked this morning from walking to my car, which was parked about 2 minutes away. So instead of giving you all rain pictures...

As a cat treat we give our cats some catnip tonight.... some cats go crazy from this herb/plant. In our house only one cat can really appreciate this treat and it's so funny for us to see how she behaves..... taking a picture of it, however is another story. First she gets so wild my shutterspeed won't keep up with it, than she gets these really big eyes, which makes her more like a drugaddict than a cat. But by the end she is so relaxed, I at least could get one decent picture!

And lastly I'm sharing a few favourites:

This for me says summer and vacation, although I'm still working!

I wanted to post a couple more pictures from our trip to the nature park.....

The tree/trunk in the last picture just begged me to be photographed. It was like public art!! While I was trying to photograph this nasty big insect was trying to bite me, so I had to settle with one picture and kinda run for me life (a little exaggerated!LOL). I only lit it up a little but the rest is all nature!!

Today Hurricane Dolly made landfall in south west Texas.... we in south east texas got a little taste of it! High tides, big waves, long overdue rain and of course the tv stations on the gulf coast! If I learned one thing being in Texas for 3 years... as soon as the Seawall on Galveston is full with reporters, you better get out of here, because it means a hurricane is coming. So this morning with only two stations on the Seawall... we were doing fine, no hurricane is going to hit us!!


The first picture is taken from the car and it was still raining a little bit.

The second and third picture show the other newscrew and the coast guard who usually sit on the sand were now moved on top of the seawall.



And of course the waves, which were heaven for the surfers!

Some recent favorite pictures for the nature theme: This frog was hiding in the shadow under a bridge, so it took a lot of effort to get the lighting correct and to get as close as possible!

A couple more highlights from sunday!!
I loved these huge lillies. They were beautiful and grew all around the park!
What a surprise this picture was.... I hadn't seen the fly until I looked on the computer!LOL Nature keeps surprising me!

This weeks theme is great for me..... Nature!! Pretty much all my pictures are of nature. I love to walk through the woods as well as stroll along the beach. We decided that we would go to Brazoos bend state park again this weekend. They have lakes and woods here and lots and lots of alligators and birds.... It didn't take long to take about 500 pictures!! LOL I will not post them all so don't worry, here are a couple of highlights of the day!

Today one of my husbands former coworkers visited us and we decided to go to Kemah Boardwalk. We went out for lunch and since she will be moving next month we decided to do something really Texan..... BBQ (burgers) with fried pickles and smoked sausage.

We also had a lot of fun in the shops and were standing in Oooohhs and aaaaahs over the stuff and signs in all the shops. The big giraffe next to me is a stuffed animal that cost 7000 dollar and was called Delilah!

And of course we couldn't pass the opportunity to take a picture with Spongebob and the mermaid!! It was a really nice day!!

This black and white dragonfly has interested me for a while now. It never sits still long enough for me to take a picture. Finally today was the day that my patience was rewarded!!

A few more pictures from the nature park... I'm not good at naming flowers, so for me it's yellow flower and pink flower (which makes it hard for me to name the pictures, because there are so many yellow and pink flowers in my picture folder!!!).
