Toady I went to the park and was lucky and found the turtles bading in the sun! Two of them stayed to pose for me for a while as long as I didn't make that much noise... tey were really cute. And I didn't know they had such long claws/nails!?!

Thanks for looking and cc appreciated!

I didn't have time to post yesterday, because of work so today my picture for 01-30-2008.
A vertical version of a street and a horizontal one. I found out today that if I take my horizontal picture for a street I have to take a step back, so I get more dept in it. If I take it from the same place as the vertical one, the horizontal shot doesn't look right (in my eyes). What do you think?

I shot these photos in the beginning of januari (I think now that the colors would have been better with an iso of 200) and didn't know which one to like more, the vertical or the horizontal. I still think both of them just give me a different feel. Which one do you prefer?
Thanks for looking and cc appreciated.

I guess you can say I love nature photography, so these are a couple of animals that I shot today! For these animal portraits it works a lot better vertical, to stay on theme:

And for everyone whose not from the south, this first one is an armadillo, which I had never seen before today, so I got really excited to have the chance to take a picture of it........... about a hundred pictures later I had one that shows his head and not the leaves. This nature photography takes a lot of patients.... and batteries!LOL

Thanks for looking and CC appreciated.

I am supposed to post another picture of the theme: words, but my creativity is gone, so today it's going to be just a picture of this mornings weather. It was really foggy and my first instinct was to stay in bed and not get up. But thanks to POTD I decided that I also needed to show pictures with no sunrise and gloomy weather.... so here they are!

And to go to the next theme: these work a lot better horizontal than vertical!

And another thing I learned, fog pictures need to be underexposed, because otherwise you don't have details.

Thanks for looking and cc is appreciated.

I finally got some creativity going... so I decided to play a little with fire, uhm more like with candles.

The word today is: Licht (light in Dutch). I tried it in Englisch but the G would not really show, so you all have to settle for the dutch. Now I have to get back and clean up all the drippings that I spilled by moving all the candles!

My word for today.

After my mistakes from 01-24-2008 I decided to do the challenge for the Two peas course, so here are my tries with Custom WB. And of course my words for this weeks theme: "just married" No we were not married today but it's only 3.5 years ago and I guess you could say we still feel "just married"!!

Thanks for looking and cc appreciated.

I forgot to change my WB this morning to the automatic setting. After the first picture I corrected it, but I think I like my "wrong" picture better than the good ones!

What do you think?

Todays post about words is about one of my favorite songs: "Nooit meer een morgen".

This Dutch song, which translated says" Never a morning", talks about what you would do if you knew you had one more day to live. Some of the lyrics are:

What would you do if there was no more morning,

Would worries no longer dictate your life,

Did you have no respect for fear,

were you the hero in one of your stories, even if it was only for one day

Would you no longer be occupied with the future, but live for the moment.

Would you listen to the child in yourself

Would you finally be who you are

We bannish the dreams to tomorrow and later,

but doesn't it really hurt,

that you would only do what you wanted

if there would not be a tomorrow.

This song reminds me that I have to take time for the beautiful moments in life now and stop worrying about the future so much. Because you never know what's going to happen.
And I'm really glad that I'm capturing these beautiful moments now and am able to share them with you all!

This is the second day of the theme and I already had a hard time getting ideas. It took a pretty long soak in the bathtub to figure this out. It's amazing what kind of ideas you get under the water...... This next object can produce a lot of written and spoken words!

After the idea comes the biggest problem for me, get my idea in a great shot. This took almost a hundred tries, but the photo that I choose to post, is besides a little sharpening and saturation a SOOC shot.

Please feel free to comment and thanks for looking.

This weeks theme is: "words".
The first thing that comes to my mind is.... books, lots of words in there!
So here are some books.

And because there was a beautiful sunset tonight I'm adding 2 more photos of that!!

Thanks for looking and cc appreciated.

Today started out with lots of rain, wind and cold... and in Texas we're so not used to this!
My pictures reflect this nasty wetter! They're grey, and gloomy to me! I hope the sun comes back soon.
Also a picture of the moon, since tonight the clouds were gone, and I finally could get a decent picture.
I also wanted to comment on some of the comments from yesterdays post: I hardly ever edit any of the pictures in photoshop. I usually just crop a little and sometimes lighten them up. The boat picture from yesterday was heavily edited and was not really to my liking, but I thought this was because I had seen the real scene. Apperently the opinions are divided. I guess it's a personal choice. Mine will probably be.... not much editing and just try capture the image as it is, in this case gloomy and grey.
Thank you all so much for commenting and please feel free to comment on todays pictures. I really appreciate it!

Somebody mentioned that they would like to see the boat picture brightened in color... so I tried... what do you think? Is it too much? Or not enough?

I also tried another vintage look on a picture that I took last week, but had not posted yet.

CC appreciated and thanks for looking!

After having two horrible long days at work I finally have time to update my blog!

Yesterday I did took some pictures, but it was raining and still dark when I went to work, so these are not great. One of them is taken with a nightshot that I have on my camera.... since this week is photoshop before and after I'm going to show you the horrible before shot and the reasonable decent after shot.

Yesterday evening I had the opportunity to take pictures of the sunset and beautiful waves at the Gulf of Mexico. But apparently I did not see the ugly green bench in the left corner, so thank you photoshop! Note to self... look also in the corners before taking the picture, LOL.
So I hope you enjoy the shots and please any comments or cc is greatly appreciated. Also if someone has any ideas for which shots the nightshot setting of my camera is perfect for, please let me know... this is one of those buttons I really have no clue of.

Thanks for looking!

Today we had a beautiful sunrise at Galveston Island! I'm going to try and convert them to black and white in photoshop, but not today..... I guess you will have to do with the original shots and one more shot of yesterday's pelican!
