Earth Day at the Nature Center!

We were looking so forward to this day, lots of activities and lots of opportunities to volunteer for us..... unfortunately friday evening it rained 7 inches so a lot of the activities had to be cancelled or moved to other areas due to flooding.

Although the day started really moody half way through the sun started shining and a lot of people came to visit. We had bird house making, face painting, recycling, canoeing, music, reptile demonstrations and lots more!

I ended up working all day long at the admission stand and for you who think that's boring... we had lots of exciting people coming, hummingbirds flying around and even a big snake not a feet away from my chair.. so quite an exciting day!

I have had it with the rain... today we went for a short shopping trip, at least that was the plan until it started pooring down. We were flooded and had to stay at the parking lot for more than an hour. Then we could go to a nearby Wafflehouse to get something to eat and wait another hour to make sure the water had receded. Unfortunately when we were almost home there was some flooding there too.... the whole trip lasted 7 hours! (Which normally doesn't take longer than 20 minutes!

This is when we were soaking wet in the car....

Looking outside we saw only this.....

After half an hour of waiting Amra fell asleep.....

After waiting at the restaurant we went home to see another surprise... flooding here is NOT common!

Amra on the other hand, was cheerful and bright after a good meal and some sleep!

I didn't take that many pictures today anyway, since we went shopping!!
